How did the two of you meet?
Adam and I had known each other casually from college, but we reconnected after a Saint Louis Cardinals baseball game. After that meeting, we have been inseparable ever since!
Describe the proposal.
I had no idea what my Golden 25th birthday had in store for me. We were on vacation in Florida, and I woke up to breakfast in bed with cards from Adam and my family. Later that day, we went out for lunch on the neighboring island. We started off at a local seafood restaurant. Adam didn’t think it was right place, so he suggested we go somewhere else with a “better view.” We drove around and Adam pointed out a few places, but I kept saying no and we ended up at the Owl Café. It had an incredible view of the ocean and beach. We had a glass of wine out on the deck, took a few pictures and then headed in for lunch. Towards the end of lunch, Adam completely stopped talking. Thinking he was tired, I let him be. I then decided I was going to get a head start shopping. About to leave, my mom asked me to take a couple more pictures out on the deck. I agreed, and went to the spot where we were previously. I turned around and Adam grabbed my hands and said the sweetest words to me. He got down on one knee and proposed. Through happy tears, I said "YES!!!" Little did I know my family caught everything on video and pictures! It has been so fun sharing the special moment with our family and friends!
Favorite detail of the wedding?
This is a hard one… The entire day was everything we had hoped for. But, we loved the live band. They played incredible music and were so entertaining. Our family and friends danced the night away and created wonderful memories.
Favorite moment during the day?
Seeing Adam at the end of the aisle. I was full of emotions and seeing his smile put me at ease. I knew I was marrying the love of my life and our lives together were just beginning.
Worse moment of the day?
When the last song was played and the night was over. Many people told me the day would fly by, and it did. Luckily, Adam and I followed the advice of others and took a few moments to ourselves to reflect on the day.
Finding the dress…
I was with my family and closest friends and when I put it on, I felt it was the one. Once I went to show my family and closest friends, their smiles and tears of joy confirmed my decision! It was perfect in every way.
Biggest challenge you had with planning the wedding?
The invitations were a challenge for me. I could not find what I was looking for locally, so I went to Etsy to have them custom made. Through numerous edits, we came to a final product that I loved. Unfortunately, many of the invitations got lost in the mail due to hand cancelling and I had to track them down at the post office to make sure they would arrive in time. It was very stressful, but the invites finally made it to their destinations!
Words of wisdom to future brides.
Don't forget what the wedding is all about: you and your future husband. Don't lose sight of that in all the planning. Lastly, have some fun with it: enjoy going to meetings, take your time when making decisions and just be yourself. If you start to feel stressed, slow down a bit...chances are you won't run out of time to get everything done before your big day.
Any unexpected funny moments?
Our band was great and played a few fun songs before dinner was served. Our friends love to dance and broke out into a dance off and came very close to our 5 tiered cake! Luckily, our wedding planner swooped in and had the cake moved away so the dance off could continue!!
How was your wedding day? Everything and more?
Our wedding day was perfect. We were surrounded by our closest family and friends and felt so special. The ceremony and venue were beautiful, the food was delicious and the dance floor was packed all night long...what more could you ask for?!
