Describe the proposal.

He helps out at a sign company… So, he asked me if I wanted to go with him to put a decal on the window of my favorite cupcake place (Cupcakes by Liz, I’m pretty much obsessed). It was a Tuesday night… so she was closed…but I decided to go anyway. We pulled up and he unlocked the door and allowed me to go in first… everything was dark… except one chandelier shining on one lone table … it had a big box of my favorite cupcakes! As I turned around he got on his knee and asked!! It was pretty perfect... I got my favorite cupcakes and diamonds! What more could a girl want J

Theme of the wedding?

Vintage/ Rustic, Shabby/Chic, Found/ Glam

Favorite detail of the wedding?

Hmm… I was crazy about details. I actually had a hard time deciding which ones to leave out.  One favorite would have to be, the 10ft. tall 16 ft long wall complete with 2 huge doors. I had Scott and My dad construct it because we were having an outdoor ceremony, but I still wanted to walk through doors. I also loved the canopy of lights that Scott stringed up way high in the trees! It was beautiful! And then, I also had a sweets inspired reception. It was kind of a fantasy really…Complete with a candy buffet, a plethora of my favorite deserts made by friends and family and of course my amazing cake and sugar cookies!!!

Favorite moment during the day?

It would have to be the moment that God answered all of our prayers just in time for our outdoor ceremony! And lifted the Rain!

Worse moment of the day?

Just one?! It was a hard day all the way around… to be honest… We had been planning the entire day as an outdoor affair… and the 3-month drought decided to end that day… it wasn’t just a normal rain … it was a torrential downpour… so the whole day was really hard, unfortunately … I was so mad and disheartened I couldn’t stop crying...

Finding the dress…

I didn’t really have that moment... I tried on so many dresses ... and I couldn’t find “THE ONE”.. I just kept being drawn to a specific shape… so I had one made in the shape that I liked with details that I loved!

Biggest challenge you had with planning the wedding?

Hm… there seemed to quite a few challenges… I am so picky and so indecisive and that is not the greatest combination lol… I would say one of the biggest challenges would be finding my dress, bridesmaid’s dresses, and the groomsmen’s clothes… I really didn’t want it to be cookie cutter.

Words of wisdom to future brides.

Try to enjoy it. Take in every moment that you can. The wedding day goes by so quickly. Also, take the help that is offered to you! It will be a blessing for you and for those who help! One of the most important things to consider is your pictures. DO hire a great photographer. DO hire hair and makeup professionals. Your pictures are what you have to remember and hold on to. Little details make a huge difference. You won’t be sorry you hired the professionals to take care of you! I work in the wedding industry and I have seen a lot of people try to save money on photography… and I have heard a lot of really sad stories and have seen a lot of awful pictures… you can’t get that day back! Make sure it is captured well!

Any unexpected funny moments?

Lol, not really… I was crazy about details that did create hilarity at times.

How was your wedding day? Everything and more?

To be completely honest…it wasn’t. My wedding day was amazing/awful/beautiful/disappointing. It was a paradoxical day.  It was amazing because I got to marry my wonderful husband. It was inspiring because of the support and love that so many special people showed us that day.  A lot of people made sacrifices of time and comfort that week/day. Working tirelessly to make sure that everything I had dreamed of would come true. We were so blessed to have had all of those amazing friends and family help us that day...I was blown away.

But, the rain! Oh, the rain! It rained allllll day looongg… I was very committed to having it on that outdoor stage… we had put so much work into the whole area.  We had constructed and anchored a wall ... hauled and placed so many doors… hung windows in trees… and lanterns on branches everything was in its place… And I was so disappointed that it was raining. BUT! God was so faithful…even though I was doubtful… he answered our prayers and the clouds parted just in time, in HIS perfect time. So my wedding was, Miraculous/So hard/a blessing/a timely lesson.
